BONES OF BRUNDAGE (2018)

Bakersfield is widely known as one of the worst cities in California, although that might be changing? Similar to the Tulsa punk documentary, Oil Capital Underground, but focusing on an even smaller town, which means a wider time period. Covers the late 70s to mid 2000s. This is the second movie made by Nate Berg. He was our contact for shows in the early/mid 90s in central California, and played in the band Sharon Tate. This follows his first film, Floradora, which also focuses on punk in central California.

I thought this was really well done. I mean, it's Bakersfield, so there are lots of weird characters. More bands that I had heard of (vs. the Tulsa) movie, but likely because I was closer, geographically. It was cool to see the talk about the different venues, two of which I have played at: Club Mars/Bam Bam's and Jerry's Pizza.

Big bands from Bakersfield were Korn and Cradle of Thorns, which seems appropriate.

This is good. Definitely worth checking out.
