LOOKING FOR JOHNNY: THE LEGEND OF JOHNNY THUNDERS (2014)

This was far less interesting than the Arthur Kane doc. Dude in wild band does lots of drugs, health goes downhill, and he ends up dying young. The Kane doc had lots more material to work worth. I left this one thinking, "is there anything Thunders did in his life other than play guitar, take drugs and beat his wife?" Maybe there wasn't. If there was, this documentary was not interested in it very much.

I liked Thunders' acoustic stuff the best of all his work. Although people talked about him as a revolutionary guitar player, nothing I saw in this movie convinced me of that. Thunders does claim he was scouted as a youth baseball player, which is probably the most interesting maybe-fact I got out of this.

This movie isn't really bad at all, but it didn't tell me (as someone who never paid that much attention to the Dolls) much I didn't know already.
