MENTORS: KINGS OF SLEAZE ROCKUMENTARY (2018)
I never really got the Mentors or GG Allin. The Mentors schtick was just saying the kind of offensive shit that the popular kids would say in high school. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the bassist comes off as pretty normal. Watching him do vocals for a new record was pretty funny. Guitar player seems pretty fucked up at this point as well.
Also unsurprising, El Duce (now dead) was a raging alcoholic. I had forgotten that he was in that Cobain documentary where he claimed that Courtney Love offered to pay him to kill Kurt. And then he named some other dude as the killer. Other dude is interviewed here, but gets up and walks off, when asked about Cobain. That whole sequence was the best part of the movie.
In the 80s, I thought what the Mentors were doing was pretty stupid, but this shit translates even worse in 2020. The last time they came through town was on their "anti-antifa tour," which brought out a bunch of punks who aligned themselves with the alt-right. Edgy.
This was kinda interesting because it happened.
