ALL AGES: THE BOSTON HARDCORE FILM (2012)

A Drew "Return 2 Burn" Stone movie. I'm not that impressed with his work, to be honest. Some cool stuff in here, but this seemed mostly directionless. There were "chapters," but it didn't seem to move in any real direction. There was an interview where someone mentioned that the "This Is Boston Not LA" comp was not representative of the scene without SSD. But this movie didn't have Al Barile, so…
Was Boston the most meat-headed city of that era of hardcore? Probably? Why does Choke sound like the smartest guy from that scene? If you are itching to hear from conservative punk Dave Smalley, this is the movie for you. To its credit, the movie touches on the exclusion of women in this scene, and interviews actual women.
Not sure when it was shot, but lots of shitty quality interview footage. I expect more from docs made in the last decade.
Enjoyable if you are really into 81-84 era Boston HC, but otherwise pass on this one.
